TCF Error 7.8 “EU User Consent” – How to check the error code?
The first step in identifying the error in AdSense is to analyze the report related to user consent from the EU. Make sure the error code is 7.8. You can do this in two ways below:
Method 1:
To do this, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your AdSense account.
- Go to the “Brand Safety” section.
- Then click on “Content” and select “Blocking Controls.”
- Find the widget named “EU user consent” and click on “Manage EU user consent.”
- Next, click the button “Download TCF error report”

If you see an error message on the AdSense home page:

- Click on the “Go to EU User Consent” button
- Then click the button “Download TCF error report”

Open the file in CSV format. The beginning of the file name is iab_tcf_errors_(…).csv
In column C there is an error code. In this case, it is error 7.8.
This means that:
TC string version field is neither 1 nor 2.
Suggested action from Google:
Only limited ads will be served. CMP should fix the TC string implementation errors.
Check other error codes.
How to fix error TCF 7.8 in AdSense?

We use the free version of https://clickio.com/ for cmp, but the last days we face the AdSense’s issue on our IAB TC string.
Error code 7.8 for 2 ad units.
We replaced the ad units yesterday but the error still exists.
Is there something wrong with clickio and we should switch to AdSense CMP?
